Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has criticised Watford’s owners after the club was relegated from the Premier League.

The Hornets sacked three managers during the season and Sky Sports pundit Souness said the Pozzo family is to blame for relegation.

He told Sky Sports: “I’m really sorry for the payers because they look like an honest group and you’ve got to be sad for the supporters, but it’s difficult to be sad for the people running the club because they are chopping and changing all the time.

“It isn’t good for the players – continuity is everything.

“If you look at all the successful clubs it’s because they’ve had continuity.

“Their take on it is, three or four bad results let’s think about changing it, six or seven bad results, definitely change them.

Watford Observer:

“We talked about going back 20 years, with the Latin countries, they chopped and changed their managers too quickly and we laughed at that.

“Some clubs here are now at that."

The former Scottish international also believes that Watford deserve to be relegated.

He added: “At the end of the season if you’ve won it, if you’ve qualified for Europe, if you end up being relegated you deserve to get relegated.

“You look at Watford today and they created enough chances to win two games of football.

“Arsenal were 1-0 up after 37 seconds, their second goal was lucky and their third goal was avoidable.

“If that was a mirror of their season where you defend poorly and don’t take chances, then that’s why they’ve gone down.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re experienced or 19, or 20, at the end of the day they have had nine months to get it right.”
