Chloe Bull’s double and assist proved too much for Watford, as Bristol City kept themselves within touching distance of leaders Liverpool at the top of the FA Women’s Championship table with a 3-1 win.

The Robins star struck on either side of the half to send her side up 2-0 before Rosie Kmita clawed one back for the visitors.

Bull then turned provider in added time, feeding Abi Harrison who put the game away.

Bristol have now won five from five, and will face Sheffield United on 26 March before their critical clash against the table toppers on April 3.

The Vixens had an excellent opportunity early on when Bull met Aimee Palmer’s corner, but the midfielder couldn’t quite direct her effort on target.

It wasn’t long before Bull did find the back of the net however, catching goalkeeper Georgie Ferguson off guard with the wind and seeing her effort sail into the top left corner.

Bristol were largely in control for the majority of the first 45 minutes and almost doubled their lead seconds before half time when Brooke Aspin got onto a loose ball, but Ferguson was able to keep the score to just 1-0.

Ferguson’s busy afternoon did not stop there, as she was required to stop Naomi Layzell’s effort on the counter 12 minutes into the second half as the Vixens desperately searched for their second.

Ella Powell’s brilliant skills put her in an excellent position before picking out Bull, who finally sent Bristol up 2-0 with a typically well-taken finish on 79 minutes.

The Golden Girls scored one of their own just minutes later as Rosie Kmita smashed one into the top corner to set up a nervy last ten minutes.

But Harrison struck deep into stoppage time to secure the three points and vital victory for her side.
