WATFORD have signed Leigh Bromby from Sheffield United.
The 27-year-old utility defender has joined Mat Sadler in signing a three-and-a-half year deal at Vicarage Road after Watford had a bid of £600,000 - rising to £850,000 - accepted by Sheffield United.
Aidy Boothroyd tried to sign Bromby this time last year but he has now finally got his man.
The versatility of Bromby and his enormous long throw are likely to have been two of the qualities that prompted Boothroyd to swoop for a player who has made 104 league appearances for the Blades since signing from Sheffield Wednesday on a free in 2004.
Bromby will go straight into the squad to face Wolves on Saturday.
