Saracens wing Rodd Penney has put his summer break on hold as he gears up to take on the National Three Peaks Challenge on Thursday.

Penney plans to climb the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales inside of 24 hours - all in aid of the Romanian Relief charity which helps underprivileged children and families in Romania.

The 29-year-old will attempt to climb Ben Nevis in Scotland, Snowdon in Wales and Scafell Pike in North West England. Challengers must climb each peak and then drive to the next destination - trying to complete all three in the space of a day.

"Not only is this a great personal challenge, but its also supporting a great cause in taking care of these children in Romania, many of who have been abandoned," said Penney, who made 28 appearances for Saracens last season.

"When I spoke to one of the girls out in Romania about what she was doing to help, it was very humbling. Here was someone who was the same age as me. However, once she finished school she went to Romania and started the charity.

"It would be great if people could sponsor me and help out what is a very worthwhile cause."
