Darius Henderson has joined Sheffield United for an initial fee of £2m.
The 27-year-old powerhouse has signed a four-year contract at Bramall Lane and becomes the third striker to leave Vicarage Road this summer.
Aidy Boothroyd did not want to lose Henderson, particularly to a Championship club, but had little option after the board accepted the Blades' bid.
The forward only signed a bumper four-year deal with the Hornets last September but the Hornets have been forced to cash in as they dramatically cut costs after they missed out on promotion.
