Saracens losing run came to an end with a comfortable 23-6 win over Worcester Warriors at Vicarage Road.

The visitors were one place and two points behind Eddie Jones’ side going into the game but the Warriors never looked like beating the Men in Black.

Sarries have lost to London Irish and Gloucester since their last victory over Bristol in the EDF Cup at the beginning of the month Jones and his new consultant for the week Jake White welcomed back their internationals this week and tries from the returning Kameli Ratuvou, Brad Barritt and Glen Jackson were enough for the win despite Jackson having an off day with the boot.

The fly half had a great chance to give his side the lead with an early penalty but he dragged his relatively simple kick wide of the post.

Both sides were trying to take advantage of the wet conditions by kicking out of hand a lot early on but when Loki Crichton kicked the ball dead from inside his own half, the home side had a scrum, which after a couple of phases of play, led to another penalty, which Jackson duly converted this time to put his team in front.

Worcester were without their superstar full back Chris Latham and it was his replacement Chris Pennell’s wayward kick which gave his opposite number Alex Goode the chance to run from deep.

Saracens welcomed back their international players this week but young Goode kept his place for the fifth week in a row and ran the length of the pitch, beating numerous defenders on the way, to set up the returning Kameli Ratuvou for a simple score in the corner, but Jackson again missed the kick.

The Warriors first chance came when a missed tackle allowed Dale Rasmussen the chance to break through and he was left one-on-one with Goode and seemed to have beaten the full back but the England Under-20 international just flicked his ankle and the big centre fell to the floor.

Worcester were unable to make it past the try line but the break did give them their first points when Sarries gave away a penalty and Pennell stuck the ball between the posts.

Andy Saull was another player returning to the Saracens line up and when he failed to roll away from the tackle, Pennell reduced the lead to two points.

The Men in Black had a great chance to reply immediately when Matt Powell’s kick from his own 22 was charged down but despite having numerous scrums from five metres out, they failed to capitalise.

Goode had hardly put a foot wrong all game and when he fired a clearance down field, he was taken out late by Sam Tuitupou, which earned the Worcester centre a spell in the sin bin with seven minutes of the half left.

And Saracens took advantage of the extra man when Jackson scored in the corner after good midfield play, but the fly half missed the difficult kick.

The second period started like the first with Jackson having the chance to kick a simple penalty but this time he put it between the posts to make it 16-6.

The New Zealander then almost got his second try of the game when he made a little burst towards the line but he was stopped just short.

Two of England’s brightest young wingers were on show in Noah Cato and Worcester’s Miles Benjamin but neither had a real impact on the match, although Benjamin was over the try line at one point but Powell’s pass was dropped forward.

Pennell missed the chance to reduce the deficit but was also unreliable with the boot.

The game died a bit as time went on but with six minutes to go replacement Brad Barritt scored his first try for Saracens as the home side doubled up out wide.

Worcester had a couple of breaks late on but did not have the attacking edge needed to score.
