RAY LEWINGTON will loan out Jerel Ifil once again despite the player agreeing a new two-year deal with the Hornets.

"There are some in this game who feel players like Jerel, if they have not made it by 21, are not going to make it. I don't think that applies," he said.

"With certain players you know it is there and it might take a little bit longer. He has the pace, power and strength and is mentally strong. The thing he knows he has got to improve on is his positional play. Quick players tend to rely on their pace, knowing that if they get it wrong they can still get there.

"You may get away with it in kids football, youth team and even the reserves but you have to learn in the higher level.

"The other negative is that when he is on the ball, he sometimes loses composure. If he gets his defending right the distribution will not be a problem. He knows I like him, I think he has a chance and I still may let him back out on loan."

Swindon Town, who made an offer for the player, which was turned down, have already come in for him with a view to a loan.

"Jerel knows his problem. He is still making the same mistake as he was two years ago but less so. But he knows and puts his hand up. He gives away penalties, because he gets the wrong side of players and tackles across them. He is working on that problem."
