Andy Hessenthaler has replaced Malky Mackay as the favourite to be Watford’s new manager with two leading firms of bookmakers.
Sky Bet temporarily suspended betting on the Dover Athletic boss taking charge at Vicarage Road yesterday after his odds were substantially backed down and he is now priced 4/5. Victor Chandler’s odds are even shorter though, with the former Gillingham player-manager on offer at 4/7.
Hornets coach Mackay is best priced at 2/1 with Victor Chandler in what is now developing into a two-horse race to succeed Brendan Rodgers if the bookmakers are to be believed.
Nigel Gibbs has drifted to 7-1 with Sky Bet, while Dennis Wise is available at 8-1, but there appears to be some support for three outsiders with Victor Chandler.
Peter Taylor and Gus Poyet are priced at 12/1, the same as a new name who entered the reckoning publically last night, Alex Inglethorpe.
