David Kerslake is the unexpected name in Malky Mackay’s new backroom team that has been confirmed by Watford.
Sean Dyche is, as revealed by the Watford Observer last week, the new Hornets manager’s assistant boss, while Alec Chamberlain remains as goalkeeping coach.
However, Mackay has opted to appoint 43-year-old Kerslake, who previously worked alongside Colin Calderwood at Nottingham Forest following a playing career that started at Queens Park Rangers and included spells at Swindon Town, Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur, as his first-team coach.
Richard Collinge has been promoted to replace Andy Rolls as head of medical, while there is a return to Vicarage Road for Martyn Pert, who will be the head of conditioning and coach.
Pert was first brought to Watford by Aidy Boothroyd but left when Brendan Rodgers decided to bring in Karl Halabi as his fitness expert.
