Watford's Tamas Priskin happy but 'wouldn't mind' Brendan Rodgers' reunion at Reading

Watford striker Tamas Priskin has not ruled out re-uniting with former manager Brendan Rogers but says he is content to remain at Watford, writes Adam Newson.

The Hungarian, who netted 14 times last season, only has one more year left on his current contract.

Watford offered Priskin a new deal last season and although the 23-year-old hasn’t signed it yet, he is happy to stay at Vicarage Road.

The striker told Nemzeti Sport: "I wouldn't mind working with my previous trainer [Rodgers] again but I'm also happy to stay because Malky Mackay and I were team-mates last year so we've a good relationship.

"My contract will expire in 2010 and I don't have any information about if my club was negotiating about my departure with any club."

Priskin added: "I feel very good in Watford. I enjoyed playing football in the last couple of months and after our summer holiday I missed the team and the atmosphere of the club."

if he's going to go we might as well let him leave this year and get money for him than let him go next year for nothing, but i personally don't want him to go as in the last few months he started to show why we got him in the first place - to score goals!

Would be a big loss, but again, we are not in a possition to say no, if the right offer comes in... watch this space i think!!

I think Tamas has always seen Watford as a stepping stone for his career as he evidently highly rates himself. He is a very decent striker on his day and should get better. If he has another decent season he will obviously expect to be granted a move.

I think he should sign a contact extension with an agreement that he can can speak to a certain calibre of club (such as a Premership team) should the board accept any bids.

A bit like what Anelka had at Bolton.

This deal would work in favour for both player and club given the current situation.

TAMAS - IF YOUR SAYING THAT YOU WANT TO JOINING F***ING JUDAS THEN JUDAS PAY UP AND GET HIM OFF BOOKS. DON'T WNAT ANYONE WHOS HEAD HAS TURNED AS IT DISRUPTS HARMONY.

I ALWAYS THINK OUR PREM REVIVAL AT THE FIRST TIME OF ASKING WAS THAT OF BANGURA AND HIS F***ING DEPORTATION CASE

It would be great if he stays as we really lack quality strikers. In our current position we should surely take the hit of missing a transfer fee for Tamas and cash in on players where we have decent cover. Still no big offers for Jay....

This guy is,by far,our best striker so if he departs we'd really be in the smelly stuff.
He was asked by the journalist if he'd like to play for BR again so I'm not going to blame Tamas for his comments. He's an ambitious player and would rather play for a progressive club not one doomed to relegation.
It's a shame we are losing all our best players.I hope we have some decent youngsters to play next month.

One good half of a season does not mak'eth a player.

Stick with what you've got otherwise failure is round the corner

Surely Sheff Utd could find a space for TS! Smiffy is the bigger loss as he is consistent unlike Priskin who is a good finisher but little else and his head drops if all isn't going to plan,so if he wants to go let him and we can make plenty of money on him and then replace him with someone who wants to be here.COYH

I agree with Achilles of Herts, we should offer a contract extension with an agreement to let him go to a premiership club for the right money.
If Priskin went now then his price should be at least £2.5M because he is so much younger than Tommy.
I don't care if he goes to Reading so long as they pay a lot. However I doubt BR's chairman is going to trust him to spend big money for a while yet.

can't believe I am agreeing with VoR.

A few months worth of goals out of 3 years is not a great player like some of you think.
