Watford legend Heidar Helguson could be set for a return to Vicarage Road.

The Icelandic striker is out of favour at Queens Park Rangers and is expected to leave on a three-month loan deal.

A host of clubs have been after the 32-year-old but it seems he is keen on a return to the club where he made his name after signing for Graham Taylor in January 2000.

It is unclear how quickly the move can be wrapped up and it may be that Helguson will not return to Watford until the loan window opens next week.

Helguson is a fans favourite at Vicarage Road after scoring 64 goals in his five-year spell at the club.

The £1.5m signing from Lillestrom has since been plying his trade at Fulham, Bolton Wanderers and QPR.

Great news...but a couple of seasons too late ?

Depends how much he costs really but unless we get him for peanuts this would be a bad move. We were a better side without him when he left the first time and he's hardly achieved much since. Danny Webber would be a better bet.

I love this man. Just remember how great he was for us last time. A true legend.

Any player (ex or otherwise) that can raise the volume of the fans in the Vic is a good thing!!!

Come on guys - its a good thing. H may be in his early 30s and past his best (and its not the answer to all of our problems), but he's still got a lot to offer and we love him. He is a different type of player than Graham and they can feed off one another. How long has it been since we have 2 front players busting their balls for the club? It will take a lot of pressure off the midfield and provide them with much more time to play with their harassing up top. But almost the most important thing for me will be the feel good factor having the Iceman cometh back. The influence that will have on the fans, the club and therefore the team can't easily be measured. I, for one, really hope it happens.

Yes Please. Heider is one of my all time favourite Watford players. As for the team being better when he left, maybe that was because Boothroyd had more money to spend on signing better players.

His forced departure last time around felt a lot like the Tommy Smith situation now. Maybe we'll resign Smith in a couple of years too.

In all seriousness though, it would be a big signing for us. I can't think of a realistic target within our means, who I would prefer.

If Williamson goes, we'll need his head to defend corners too.

Mixed feelings, true legend and dont know if he will live up to our expectations. However think he will be able to do a job for us on the pitch even if not as much as before and be great to have him back as will raise the atmosphere. And if its a 3 month loan will do until the next transfer window when if it hasnt worked out someone more permanent may have been lined up.

If the 'Ice-man' is keen and wants to play for the club then he has my blessing.

Hes coming home hes coming home hes coming Heidars coming home.

Good piece of buisness by MM if he does arrive back to the vic.

All we need now is another big defender as MW has got his wish and leaving for Pompy in a 3 million pound deal according to sky sports news

Didn't a certain fans favourite, Mr Smith, come back here, having struglled for form, and been revitilised by the club and fans? We should look to do the same here. One of our own is coming home, we need to show him we are glad to have him back! - We should sell Williamson - his attitude sucks!

This would be fine, but why on earth are there some people on here wanting danny Webber?? He's not a goalscorer, has been a failure everywhere he's gone and is basically a free agent. Some nice touches for sure but not enough goals!

Aberdeen striker Lee Miller at Vicarage Road with Malky Mackay and two other guys. Theres also been rumour of getting Norweigen centre half Thoms Solberg on a loan

Heimishe_Hornet says...

Lee Miller of Aberdeen - could liven things up if his Wiki entry is anything to go by!

At the start of the 2006-07 season, after refusing to play in a reserve match, United allowed him to join Aberdeen on a free transfer in August 2006. Miller scored 13 goals in the 2007-08 season finishing as Aberdeen's top scorer and in May 2008, signed a two-year contract extension with the Pittodrie side. He has become a fan favourite at Pittodrie

Miller was the subject of a police report in April 2007 after baring his backside to visiting Dundee United supporters during a 4-2 defeat. Less than a year later, in March 2008, Miller was charged with driving dangerously at speeds of up to 120mph, appearing in court in September and due to be on trial on 29 April.

HH not established himself in PL-DW not established himself in CHAMPIONSHIP under 3 diff mngrs @ S Utd!

Check your facts, his strike rate is 20 per season (he missed games with injury & Vialli tactics.

A goal every c2.25 games

Heidar needs to play every week at his age, he is not the same player who came to us and served us so well, but he is typical of the type of experienced player we may get.

Back in May Ras was prepared to take a cut to join us, but we sent him back to Soton. In under three months we approached him along with Reading. His comment about us was that he dismissed our offer easily as it held little attraction for him the next day he signed for the Royals.

This is what we up against now ...the reputation of a team who has sold many players and has replaced them with one buy and two loanees and maybe Heidar.

How we have got to this position has been debated but we are now there. Malky has an uphill battle on his hands and needs all our support. I remember our first season in Divn 4 and in the not so distant past at the beginning of the Taylor era losing at Stockport, going to Workington etc. I hope we dont return to the lower divisions but either way I will continue to support my team. I hope the same can be said of all of you.

Where did you hear those comments Rasiak was supposed to have made? Sorry but how does your argument hold water when he joined Reading who have also sold their best players for basically the same reason as Watford (debt apart, they left because they wanted to play at a higher level or to reduce costs) and who have had a horrendous start to the season

Richard - Come On You Golden Boys! says...

H is undoubtedly a Watford legend, his goals kept us up in his last season and then Aidy used his transfer fee to build the promotion-winning team. He won't be the same player for sure but will certainly add some muscle and experience to the front line. Security Word = Shoe-star. Nice One

H for 3 months with subsidised wages from QPR can't be too bad. Will have to wait and see if he can re-ignite the fire in him. If there is interest from other clubs but he wants to come here then hopefully he will be looking to make an impact here.
