John Eustace will return to the Watford squad for tomorrow night’s trip to bottom-of-the-table Ipswich Town but Heidar Helguson is definitely out and Saturday’s match-winner Tom Cleverley may also be unavailable.

Eustace missed the weekend win over high-flying Middlesbrough through food poisoning but Malky Mackay confirmed the former Stoke City and Coventry City midfielder will be back to face Roy Keane’s Ipswich.

But the game at Portman Road has come too soon for on-loan QPR striker Helguson, who is still recovering from the calf injury sustained against Leicester City a month ago.

Mackay said: "Heidar will not be ready for Tuesday night so we will be going with the same group of players as we had with us on Saturday, and we will have John Eustace back, who is fit now after a bout of food poisoning over the weekend.”

Cleverley scored his fifth goal in ten Championship games on Saturday but went off with a head injury on 64 minutes and will be looked at by the Hornets’ medical team tomorrow morning.

"Tom Cleverley will be reassessed ahead of the trip on Tuesday,” Mackay said this afternoon. “He took a knock on the head on Saturday and we want to make sure we’re very careful with him, so we’ll assess that tomorrow morning."

Jay DeMerit is definitely out following eye surgery on Saturday but second-choice keeper Richard Lee will also be assessed in the morning after jarring his knee last week.

Mackay said: "Richard Lee was going to get a scan today to make sure everything’s okay, so we’ll hear back on that tomorrow."

Ipswich have spent more than £5m in the summer, including the £1.7m capture of former Watford striker Tamas Priskin, but they remain bottom of the league.

However, Mackay is under no illusions that his side face a tough ask at Portman Road.

He said: "I think the resilience the team showed against Middlesbrough and the courage they had to get the ball down and play really showed a growth in the group, which I was really happy about.

"Obviously to get the result means a lot to us, as it does to the little band of travelling fans who made the long and winding road up to Middlesbrough as well.

"Again, on Tuesday we are playing against a team who have managed to spend some money in the summer and bring in some quality players with a new manager at the helm, there are different pressures there for us and we know it’s going to be difficult.

" I don’t think I’ve ever been over to Ipswich in the whole of my playing and managerial career and had an easy game, so I don’t expect anything other than a really tough tie tomorrow night."
