Watford legend John Barnes could make a return to football sooner than expected after applying for the Rwanda manager’s job.
Barnes was sacked as Tranmere Rovers boss 17 days ago, after eight defeats from his 11 games in charge.
The former Liverpool and Newcastle United winger quit as Jamaica manager to take over at Rovers but the 45-year-old may return to international management with African side Rwanda.
The Rwandan sports minister Joseph Habineza confirmed: "John Barnes has contacted us about the job. We have his CV and we are weighing up the possibilities."
