Saracens director of rugby Brendan Venter says his side "chucked the ball around like headless chickens" despite beating Leeds Carnegie to return to the top of the Guinness Premiership.
The Men in Black made it six wins out of six after a 21-15 victory over Leeds Carnegie on Sunday but the South African was disappointed with their performance. The match was littered with errors from both sides and Venter admits there is plenty of room for improvement.
He said: "At times I thought we were really poor. We just chucked the ball around like headless chickens. I'm honestly not that happy with the performance.
"Little things like our discipline let us down at times and I think the players know as well. No-one in this club doesn't aspire to be special and work really hard and be intense. There wasn't a lack of that out there but we weren't amazing. We are capable of better than that but the players know that.
"We want to create a style of rugby that can survive and it's about building blocks. It's not about overnight saying we'll keep the ball at all costs. I have heard the stories so many times in the past and if you don't get results you struggle."
