Saracens' director of rugby Brendan Venter believes the memories from last night's historic win over South Africa will stay with them for life.

The Men in Black looked down and out after going 18-3 behind but tries from Ernst Joubert and Brad Barritt and a late Derick Hougaard drop goal condemned the world champions to their third consecutive defeat.

Speaking yesterday, Venter said: "I am so proud of my players. I have said to them all season that rugby is about creating memories as a group and tonight we have done that.

"You can win trophies in sport, but they take them back after a year. The memories we leave the stadium tonight cannot be taken away from us. They will always be there and it was a fantastic night for everyone connected with the club."

But the happiest person at Wembley was 24-year-old job centre worker Stuart Tinner after his half-time kick hit the woodwork in Saracens' crossbar challenge and earned him £250,000.

The Welwyn Fifth hooker said: "This is the second-best day of my life. The best was when I lost my virginity. I hope to buy a flat and a new car with the money."
