Watford have no fresh injury concerns ahead of tomorrow's resumption of the Championship campaign against Scunthorpe United at Vicarage Road.

Long-term casualties Jay DeMerit and Ross Jenkins are still on the sidelines – and Malky Mackay confirmed they are still "weeks away rather than days away" with their respective eye and back injuries – but Richard Lee could be in contention to return following his knee problem.

However, there are no fitness concerns over Heidar Helguson, who did not feature in Iceland's 1-1 freindly draw with Luxembourg on Saturday as a precautionary measure, having had the experience of playing in Tehran for 60 minutes of his country's 1-0 defeat to Iran last week.

The Hornets will be favourites to beat a Scunthorpe side who have lost their last three games, shipped 14 goals in four outings if their 5-1 defeat against Manchester City in the League Cup is factored in and taken just four points from a possible 24 on their travels this term. However, when Iron's recent run was put to the Hornets boss, his response had a familiar ring to it.

"They did [lose four in succession] but you look at the two games before that – they beat Newcastle, they beat Sheffield United, two very, very strong teams in this division, so I take that as no guide to how we're going to treat them," Mackay said.

"As I've said before, you look at this league and anyone can beat anyone and if you don't turn up on the day and you don't do the basics properly then you get bitten, and that's the way we’ll be treating this game."

'Doing the basics properly' is also key to how teams respond in their first game back after the international break in the Watford manager's eyes.

"There's ways of looking at," he observed. "Teams that are doing well before the international break don't want it to come, teams that aren't doing so well may be needing the time to recover, but there’s so many different results that come after it there is no formula.

"You've just got to make sure that you cover all the basics and you make sure that your team is as well prepared as they can be and the training field's where that happens. You make sure that your guys are up there and they're working to a high standard every day and that standard doesn't slip and you prepare the way you normally prepare, it's just there wasn’t a game last weekend."
