Watford have named an unchanged side for the resumption of their Championship campaign against Scunthorpe United at Vicarage Road this afternoon.
After the Hornets’ international contingent all returned unscathed from their respective commitments, it is no surprise that Malky Mackay has chosen to leave well alone following the impressive 2-0 victory over Preston North End.
There is one change on the bench though, with keeper Richard Lee fit to return after missing the last five games with a knee problem.
Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins was always going to have to make one change from the side that was thumped 4-1 at Blackpool last time out, with keeper Joe Murphy suspended.
Josh Lillis comes in between the posts, but the Iron boss has also decided to make one change in midfield, with Martyn Woolford coming in for Grant McCann, while Gary Hooper, who was ill for the Blackpool game, returns in place of Michael O’Connor to be reunited with Paul Hayes up front.
One additional incentive going into the game for the home side though, is that if they do win for a third successive time at Vicarage Road they will overtake the points tally they had on Christmas Day last year having played seven fewer matches.
Watford: Loach; Hodson, Mariappa, Cathcart, Doyley; Cowie, Lansbury, Eustace, Cleverley; Graham, Helguson. Substitutes: Severin, Harley, Lee, Bennett, Henderson, Ellington, Bryan.
Scunthorpe United: Lillis; Byrne, Jones, Mirfin, Friend; Wright, Togwell, Sparrow, Woolford; Hooper, Hayes. Substitutes: Williams, McCann, Thompson, Forte, O’Connor, Slocombe, N’gala.
