Former Parmiter's School pupil has to wait for his chance with the ball in Bangladesh

Steve Finn turned his arm over as an England Test bowler for the first time this morning as his side strengthened their position on day two of the first Test in Bangladesh.

After watching his batsmen amass a formidable 599 for six declared, with centuries from captain Alastair Cook (173) and Paul Collingwood (145), the 20-year-old debutant had to wait for his chance to try and impress with the ball.

The Middlesex player was the fourth of England’s four main bowlers to be given the ball after Stuart Broad (two for 30) and Graeme Swann (three for 40) had taken three early wickets, but he was unable to claim his first Test scalp.

However, although Finn conceded four boundaries off his first eight deliveries and his five overs, including a maiden, went for 30 runs, his bowling was not as disappointing as those figures might suggest.

The former Parmiter’s School pupil will hope he can get among the wickets in the early hours of tomorrow morning when the hosts resume on 154 for five and still needing 246 runs to save the follow-on.
