Watford's head of ticketing is “incredibly pleased” to have sold 7,500 season tickets so far.

The club has set two Early Bird deadlines this season, one for online and direct debit customers and another for those purchasing over the phone or by post.

The first online and direct debit deadline was meant to be on Friday but the club decided to extend it until Tuesday morning and it paid off, with another 400 fans buying their season ticket over the weekend.

Michael Jones, Watford's head of ticketing, said yesterday: “We are delighted to have sold 7,500 as the first Early Bird deadline passes. We now have a ten day period until the closure of the second and final Early Bird deadline on Friday May 14th and until that point, we won’t be able to judge the overall success of the campaign..

“It is, however, incredibly pleasing to see that so many supporters have already pledged their commitment to the club for another season and we hope to see this number continually rise over the coming days.

“This is the first time that we have had two such deadlines so to be clear, supporters can still renew their seats online, by postal application using the forms provided or by phone.

“The only thing that has changed from the first period is that the online price is now equivalent to the post or phone price and the direct debit method of payment is no longer available.”
