Walsall have confirmed Watford target Troy Deeney has officially handed in a written transfer request.
Deeney was quoted as saying he had handed in the request at the weekend but Walsall denied that was the case.
However, the club have this morning confirmed a written transfer request was handed to the club by Deeney’s representatives yesterday afternoon.
Watford have refused to comment on the issue but the Hornets are understood to have had at least four bids for Deeney rejected. The last known offer was for around £375,000, which was made last Wednesday and rejected the following day.
Walsall are expected to make a decision in the next 24 hours and it is believed the Hornets will make a fifth bid in the coming days.
