Scott Severin leave Watford for good with Dundee United switch

Scott Severin has left Watford to join Dundee United on a free transfer.

Severin, who has signed a two-year contract with the current Scottish Cup holder, struggled to hold down a first team place at Vicarage Road after joining from Aberdeen on a free transfer last summer, making just 11 appearances.

The 31-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Kilmarnock, making 16 appearances.

Saves a little on the wage bill I guess. Not one of Malky's better purchases. In fact the jury is still out on his transfer dealings. He has got some great loans in TC, HL, HH etc but some disastrous ones as well in Severin and Travener. Not so sure about Aldred and Mutch either, but time will tell.

Malky stated he was bought in for his potential and is one for the future.

mackay said only players better than the ones we have at the club will be signed, severin was meant to be one, saw him play for the first time at borehamwood, he came on for eustace who had dominated the game, we then lost the control we enjoyed, even then albeit in a friendly you could see he was going to struggle to keep up with the english game.

I see QPR have signed our beloved Tommy Smith and Rob Hulse on deadline day. They are already top of the league with HH back in the side. Patrick Agyemang is only sub, and Rowan Vine cannot even get a place on the bench!! Some squad Warnock is assembling, but maybe he could loan us HH or Vine when the window re-opens next week?

i actually think the team play better without this kind of "hitman" up front.

We all saw in the Norwich game with Buckley, Sordell and Graham we had balls being played into feet and the result was a great win.

Come Saturday, with Deeney in the side, it was back to lumping the ball forward; it didn't stick and was not effective.

Not only that, i did question HH's work rate at times last season.

No great lose although maybe a bit unlucky with injuries.

Seems to me much like Cowie and McGinn he lacked the pace to cope with English football?

Comparison of deadline day dealings at QPR and the Vic is painful reminder of where we sit in footballs food chain.
Cant bear thought of HH and TS returning to Watford in hoops though both will get legends welcome they deserve.
Dont make mistake of underestimating Hs contribution last season. Yes he was carrying injuries much of the time but MM knew that and managed his time on pitch. He still led a young front line ,lifted the dressing room and won time for DG to rediscover his form as well as scoring crucial goals. It wasn't his fault that some resorted to lumping balls towards his head.
I for one would have loved to have him back if we could afford it.You can say what you like about Warnock but he knows a decent striker when he sees one...or 2...or 3....or 4...................

Should have added....with H in side dont think we would have conceded that shambles of a goal on Saturday. He was usually our best defender at corners/free-kicks. young wanna-bes should study and learn.
I am old enough to remember likes of Jenkins and Reilly who also put in a shift in their own penalty areas as well as leading line but H is exceptional at this.

Totally agree Rookery Veteran, Heider was great for us last season and was under-rated for his performances considering his injury problems. Helped Danny no end towards the tail of the season. We will give both him and Tommy a good reception on their return to the Vic, but I am beginning to dread the result already!

Can't really compare us with QPR financialy considering they are the second richest club in the world.
Bye bye Severin, complete waste of space that you are. At least he wasn't costing us twenty grand a week like Matt Jackson did.

The big concern that unlike last season when had 2 young player's in TC & HL from Man unt & arsenal. We have loan's from Boro & Birmingham. It is a bit like doing your shopping at Harrod's at one point then going to Marks & Spencer the next. Still they will take them back if you dont want them.

On a different note. Bolton are paying Danny Shittu off so he is a free agent. Don't suppose we could anywhere near like meet his pay demands but wouldn't mind having him back in our defence.
