Radlett secured their place in the top flight of the Home Counties Premier League after ending their season on a high against Banbury.

Although the Cobden Hill outfit’s Division One status looked relatively secure going into yesterday’s final round of matches, they still might have been waiting on results elsewhere had they suffered a heavy defeat.

Such an eventuality looked like it might be on the cards when the hosts were dismissed for a sub-standard 144, but then Stuart Browne took centre stage, claiming five for 38, to help bowl out Banbury for 115.

The 29-run victory not only ensured Radlett finished 25 points clear of the bottom two and seventh in the table, but it was also good news for the Saracens Herts League as it confirmed that four clubs were promoted from divisions two to 14.

West Herts and Hemel Hempstead also finished their season on a high in Division Two East.

The Stags (196 for five) climbed to a finishing position of sixth following their five-wicket success over already relegated St Albans (195 for six), while another five-wicket haul from skipper Nick Hodgins (five for 43) bowled third-placed Hemel (195 for nine) to a comfortable win over Letchworth (112 all out).
