Watford midfielder Don Cowie has dedicated the Hornet's first goal on Saturday to his grandfather who died last month.
The 27-year-old was previously out for five matches due to a knee injury and after marking a return to the starting line-up with his first goal of the season, celebrated the strike by pointing to the sky.
The Scotland international said:"I dedicated my goal to my grandad who passed away last month. He was one of the biggest followers of my football career so that was for him."
Cowie was happy to play the whole 90 minutes after being out for a month but left Turf Moor disappointed as his side surrendered a 2-1 lead to lose 3-2.
"I was delighted to play on Saturday," said Cowie. "I probably came back a bit earlier than expected so that was a bonus.
"Getting my first goal of the season was great but obviously it was extremely disappointing not to come out with a win."
