Three members of Watford Joggers achieved podium places for their relevant age groups at the Black Park 5km on Saturday.

The club had six runners taking part in the event near Slough with Brian James (19.27) their best-placed member as he finished in 13th, which made him first in the MV60 age group.

Gail Winter, who was 58th overall after a time of 23.02, was second in the WV35 category and in her debut run, Janet Willerton’s 25.00 made her the highest placed runner in the WV55 age group, and 108th in total.

The other three runners were debutant Andy Willerton (73rd), Carra Carter (115th) and Kevin Floyd (116th).

The Joggers’ Bob Wallace continues to find the odd and unusual in the racing calendar as he took part in the first running of the Lactic Rush.

The course is an eight-mile challenge event round a farm near the Kelvedon Hatch Nuclear Bunker near Brentwood.

It features twenty obstacles, which included trenches, compost hills, tyre traps and ponds. Wallace completed the event in 1.17.00.
