Watford have completed the signing of Burnley striker Chris Iwelumo for an undisclosed fee.

The 6ft 3 frontman had a year left on his contract at Turf Moor and has agreed a two-year deal with the Hornets.

Iwelumo has played for a dozen clubs in his 15-year career and has scored 112 goals in 458 appearances, 314 of which were starts.

The 32-year-old, who is 33 in less than two weeks, started his career at St Mirren but only made 18 appearances before joining Danish side Aarhus.

He joined Stoke City in 2000 and made 103 appearances during his four years at the club, scoring 22 goals.

Iwelumo had three loan spells away from Stoke - at York City, Cheltenham Town and Brighton and Hove Albion - before switching to German side Alemannia Aachen for six months.

The Scot joined Colchester United in 2005 and had a successful two years there, scoring 37 goals in 103 appearances as he guided the club to promotion.

He turned down the club’s contract offer though and joined Charlton, where he was the club’s top scorer with ten goals in 50 appearances.

Iwelumo then left Charlton as the club looked to cut their wage bill and joined Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The striker scored 15 goals in his first 16 appearances for Wolves but then went on a 16-game goal drought.

His 2008/09 campaign was ended prematurely due to injury and the following season was hampered with injuries also.

Iwelumo did not score for Wolves that season and although he netted twice during a brief loan spell at Bristol City, he left Wanderers having failed to score for the club in 17 months.

A move to Burnley followed for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £500,000, and the striker scored 11 times in 50 appearances for the club.

But he has become surplus to requirements at Turf Moor following the arrival of Charlie Austin, who has now returned to fitness.

Iwelumo, who will be remembered by many for his awful miss playing for Scotland in 2008, has featured for Burnley during pre-season and scored twice.
