Five Watford Joggers athletes competed in the Bearbrook 10k race with strong times posted on an undulating course.

Mark Studdart ran 40.05 while Brian James took the first M60 position, clocking 41.09.

Malcolm Salmons ran a personal best of 47.43, Matt Mitchell posted 48.35 with Bob Wallace – still sore from a recent fall – crossed the line in 55.56.

Studdart also ran in the Self Transcendance/TransSiberiaRailway 5k in Battersea Park on August 8, posting his fourth personal best in four weeks with a time of 19.30.

The Joggers were also in action at the 5k events in Durham Park and Slough Black Park.

The former race saw Paul Emery finish in 20.52 while Stuart Borrill ran 22.31 at Black Park, proving competitive with the times set their the week before by Andy Dean (20.47), Joshua Worthington (21.08), Scott Balcomb (21.49) and Gail Winter (22.57).

The previous week saw debutant 5k runner Paul Warrell smash the Joggers’ best time in the distance this year in the first Stevenage 5k series.

Warrell crossed the line in 18.08 and will look to improve in the future having set just one time at that distance.

Meanwhile Wallace continues to find the unusual races, and tried his luck in the 13 mile Milland Valley Trail Race.

Despite some rugged terrain and, due to rain, some slippery downhill stretches, Wallace ran a good time and crossed the line in 2h, 20m.

In the Tenby 10k Brian James ran well and finished in fifth place in his age category with a good time of 41.19.
