Watford supporters group The Yellow Order is looking to move from the usual spot in the Rookery as it aims to attract more fans and improve the atmosphere inside Vicarage Road.

The Yellow Order has been situated in the top corner of the Rookery Stand (RS4) since it was set up in November 2010 but it has seemingly out-grown the area and the club have agreed to a trial period in the opposite corner of the stand, near the South-West development, for the next two fixtures.

The Hornets agreed to set aside a “substantial” block of seats for new and existing Yellow Order members for the Nottingham Forest and Millwall games in the next week, although almost all of the seats are now occupied.

Roy Moore, a co-founder of the group, told the Watford Observer: “The whole point is to get it back to how it used to be when I was younger as the atmosphere has deteriorated in recent years. We have out-grown where we have been since November so the club have given us a whole block to see how we get on.”

The Yellow Order has almost 700 members of its Facebook group and Moore claimed there were around 120 of TYO at the final home game of last season against Queens Park Rangers. With time he is hoping it can be increased to around 200.

Moore said: “I think part of the reason why we only get 11,000 or 12,000 fans a week is because for 80 minutes of a game there is no atmosphere and I reckon there are a lot of core Watford fans who want the same thing I want, which is a better atmosphere.”

The Yellow Order is looking into sponsoring Carl Dickinson, who has already been recognised as a player who makes an effort with the fans, and is considering setting up a coach for away games.

Moore added: “Another reason for looking to move to near the South-West corner is because the dressing rooms will be there eventually so it would help improve the atmosphere for when the players come out.”

However, Moore acknowledges the group has not always been viewed in a positive light despite its good intentions and wants to attract more older members.

He said: “One of the things we are battling with is that people assume it is just a group of under 20 year olds but we are not and we want more of the older fans who used to be part of the vocal crowd from before.”
