Watford reject third Newcastle United bid for Adrian Mariappa

The Hornets have rejected a third bid from Newcastle United for Adrian Mariappa, the Watford Observer understands.

Newcastle made a second bid last night, which was rejected, and that was followed up with another offer today, which was again declined.

The initial bid on Monday was “miles away” from the Hornets valuation according to manager Sean Dyche so news of the follow-up offers being turned down is not surprising as Newcastle are renowned for being cautious when it comes to bidding for players.

Reports from the North East have suggested this was the Magpies final bid for the defender, who has made 244 appearances for Watford.

Well done the club. Newcastle must have realised what we want for him by now yet they've obviously come in with another unacceptable bid. Sod off Pardew, you're taking the p*** now.

This must be unsettling for him. Hope he clears his head for tonight!

He's a solid professional. Can't see this affecting his performance tonight. Glad to see the club has grown a decent pair of ****

Was brilliant tonight. Very happy we seem to be determined to get our moneys worth or keep him.

This is really a case of be careful what you wish for.

NUFC have made their intentions clear...we cant talk to the player but if we offer a silly price and talk of trebling his wages we will unsettle him and have a chance of getting him on the cheap. not nice but logical.

As a WFC fan I dont like it and wish Pardew no good....but at the same time many of us demand that LB is more open and now we see the good and harm that transparency can do.

keep up the good work SD and LB and may a plague of pestilence descend on all at NUFC.
