Manchester United striker scores as Queens Park Rangers Reserves beat Watford

Former Watford winger Lee Cook scored twice for Queens Park Rangers Reserves as they beat a Hornets XI 4-2.

Watford named a side consisting of mainly professionals as Mark Yeates, Prince Buaben, Carl Dickinson all featured alongside the likes of Dale Bennett and Tom James.

Cook opened the scoring within two minutes at London Colney yesterday following good work by Federico Macheda and Angelo Balanta.

The highly-rated Balanta was at the heart of everything QPR did and it was his shot five minutes later which was parried into the path of Manchester United loanee Macheda, who made it 2-0 with a tap-in.

Watford were being kept at bay by a back four which included ex-Hornet Danny Shittu but Ross Jenkins’ neat finish pulled one back early into the second half.

The visitors responded immediately as Balanta set up Cook for his second to restore the two-goal advantage.

Watford youngster Piero Mingoia set up an interesting finish to the game but Balanta made it 4-2 with a stunning volley late on.

Ouch...those playing in these "Reserve" games don't seem to take advantage of the chance to impress.

Yes all top line summer signings now pushed out of the team by Murray, Doyley and Eustace.

And QPRs reserve team cost many times more than our first team! Good result for the reserves considering the financial side of things.

True..the fact they have a Man U player in their reserve says something.

Agree with you Elton,
I saw Cook play a few games earlier in the season for Orient , He looked the best player on the pitch. But that may have been me wearing my yellow tinged spectacles.

I wouldn't be too upset to see him back.
Like most supporters I was annoyed at the way he left us but then I recall reading that when he was transferred from QPR and they had money troubles he gave them £250k when he left, if it's true then he can't be all bad, not many of the greedy so and so's that play .these days would do that and he could certainly cross a ball well.

kept us up in his final season, only went to QPR initially due to his dad being a season ticket holder there.
Would certainly like to see him back, but that said no point if don't get in a striker to convert the chances he will create.
Why did the lad, Trotta at Fulham not go out anywhere once he left Wycombe? would be a useful loanee as would have Jason Roberts - nice work by Reading who have about 6 strikers.

Wasn't Cook a QPR Fan, so when offered a move there he took it? Can't blame him for that. I'd welcome him back, but we need someone that can convert chances ahead of another winger, surely?

Cook is a QPHa fan, he wanted to play for them, so what.
Helguson had no problem rubbing our noses in the dirt when he scored against us do no double standards.
Cooks welcome back and better by a mile than Yeates.

I bow to the majority and would welcome back Cook.

He was a QPR fan who made it clear that he wanted to go to them for the money as well as being his supported team.

A bit like Judas, lived in Reading had worked for them for a number of years, great friends with Nikki Hammond and they offerred more money.

As for Heidar he was loyal to the club until we needed to sell him to rebuild and he has then gone or stayed where he has been sold to and when he has agreed terms. Not the same as the other two who along with Williamson and his like showed no loyalty whatsoever.

I don't get it, heidar also went for more money and publicly stated ge wanted to stay at QPR when loaned to us. Why would he not? He gets more money as a prem player.
Williamson was an **** but it's unfair to judge cook as the same.
I'd love to have him back
