Post Office leapfrogged Eagles to go top of Division One in the Watford & District Table Tennis League.

Abdul Rahim and Les Leech put in an unbeaten display as Post Office claimed a 6-2 victory, lifting them above Eagles with two games in hand.

Watling ‘B’ strengthened their third place in the table after they beat Gazelles 5-3.

Ian Banfield was the star for Watling who are now just two points behind Eagles and have what could prove to be a crucial game in hand.

There was also joy for Falcons and Watling ‘A’ who saw off the challenge of Huskies and Hounds respectively.

In the Premier Division, there was a draw between Cougars and Abbotts Langley although the latter could so easily have lost.

Ken Stonebridge was unbeaten for Abbotts while Peter Groves came from 6-10 down in the fifth leg to beat junior Ishan Bairoliya to help them claim the draw.

Progress ‘A’ made light work of Progress ‘B’ in a quick match which finished 7-1, while Adam Johnson starred as Aardvarks beat Dolphins 6-2.

Division Two leaders Iguanas suffered a setback as they lost 5-3 to an Atif Wasay inspired Jaguars.

Wasay won his three matches, while Watling ‘C’ overcame Kangaroos despite Mitchell Hyams’ unbeaten effort.

A Lions team of Rick Poplawski, Dazier Neal and Stuart Cass eased past third-placed Newts as the Division Three leaders claimed an 8-0 win.

A 6-2 victory for Panthers saw them climb above their opponents Progress ‘C’, while Steve Barnett was the star man for Quails who drew with Watling ‘D’.
