It has been a disappointing week for Watford Ladies as they suffered back-to-back defeats in cup competitions.

On Tuesday the Hornets fell to a 1-0 defeat against Barnet in the FA Premier League Cup.

The Bees are defending champions and they started the game well and Stacey Sowden forced Watford keeper Lauren Davey into a good stop.

Watford's Jo Wilson stung the hands of Barnet stopper Cherie Rowlands with a low shot while at the other end Shelby Hills put a free-kick just wide.

But after 73 minutes Danielle Murphy netted the only goal of the night, slamming home a loose ball with a low shot from just inside the box.

That followed the Hornets crashing out of the FA Cup after going down 6-1 against high flying Leeds United.

It was the Golden Girls who took the lead in the game as Irene Martin Garcia’s cross found Megan Wynne who got across her marker to put Watford ahead at the break.

However, in the second half Leeds stepped up their performance and Jess Holbrook equalised ten minutes after the restart.

From that moment the Watford defence was regularly carved open. Carey Huegett didn’t miss as she made it two before Leah Galton fired home.

A penalty from Clare Sykes extended the lead and Holbrook grabbed her second of the game with a fantastic free-kick.

Leeds rounded off a dominant second half display as they caught the Hornets on the break with time running out to seal the victory.

Garston Ladies’ Seniors claimed a well-deserved 1-0 victory on against title-chasing Brentford. Sam Roads speculative 30 yard shot proved the winner and the result lifts Garston off the bottom of London and South East Regional League Division One.
