It was a productive few days for a couple of Watford’s young players out on loan.

Forward Connor Smith played 90 minutes as Wealdstone’s extraordinary FA Trophy journey finally came to an end on Saturday in the second leg of the semi final against Newport County.

Having lost the first leg 3-1, the Stones battled to a brave 0-0 draw against their Blue Square Premier opponents and missed out on a trip to Wembley.

Smith and defender Tommie Hoban were also involved on Monday night as Wealdstone continued their promotion push with a 1-0 win at home to the Met Police.

Elsewhere, Gavin Massey managed 22 minutes for Colchester United in the League One side’s 1-1 draw against Huddersfield Town.

Massey rejoined the U’s last week on a one-month loan after the Hornets recalled the 19-year-old from a previous spell in the middle of last month.

As for the older professionals, Josh Walker and David Mirfin both managed 90 minutes for Scunthorpe United as they drew 1-1 at home to leaders Charlton Athletic.

Adam Thompson was an unused substitute for Brentford as the Bees lost 2-0 at Leyton Orient while Rene Gilmartin also watched on from the bench as Crawley Town beat Port Vale 3-2.

Jonathan Bond did not feature for Dagenham and Redbridge as they pulled off a vital 2-0 win at home to Macclesfield, while Chez Isaac was not part of the Tamworth squad that secured a 0-0 draw at Grimsby Town in the Blue Square Premier.
