Deeney, Heaton and McGinn futures unknown
The club’s takeover and subsequent delay over Gianfranco Zola’s appointment as Watford manager also means the immediate future of three players remains in doubt.
The Watford Observer understands the Hornets had agreed a deal with out-of-contract goalkeeper Tom Heaton and we reported last week that he was on the verge of signing for the club.
However, it has been reported Watford have decided against signing the goalkeeper.
Watford were also hoping to secure the services of Stephen McGinn, whose contract ran out on Sunday, but both players’ immediate futures have yet to be confirmed.
Hornets striker Troy Deeney was last week sentenced to ten months in prison for affray and he has also not been informed whether he has a future at the club.
The Watford Observer contacted Watford this week to ask about the futures of all three players but they stated they would not comment on the trio.
Heaton’s contract with Cardiff City also expired on Sunday and the Hornets thought they had beaten a number of other Championship clubs to the 26-year-old’s signature.
He spent five years at Manchester United as a professional but did not make a competitive appearance for the Red Devils, spending most of his time out on loan, with spells at Swindon Town, Belgian side Royal Antwerp, Cardiff, Queens Park Rangers, Rochdale and Wycombe Wanderers.
Cardiff, who signed the goalkeeper in 2010, offered him a new contract but he decided to leave in search of first-team football.
As for McGinn, Watford offered their player a new contract at the beginning of May but the 23-year-old hadn’t agreed a new deal heading into this week.
The Watford Observer understands McGinn is keen to remain at Vicarage Road.
But it is unclear whether the new regime of Scott Duxbury, Gianluca Nani and Zola will want the Scot to stay.
McGinn has not played a competitive match for more than 16 months following a cruciate knee ligament injury.
He returned to ‘full fitness’ towards the end of last season, playing in several Reserve team matches.

It isn't difficult to come out and say what's going on. Even if Zola doesn't get the job, Dyche's position is untenable now anyway as they clearly don't want him.
Imagine the uproar if this was Bassini...

For myself i see a playoff place, but that's on the basis of keep Maps and Eustace stays fit and in form. With a reasonable loan striker coming in. Opinions?

For goodness sake - these guys are in for ten years - give them a break - let them sort the detail - i suspect that the money is still in escrow given the fit and proper person test that the league have to apply - they have all the players we need in waiting - just give them time to complete the deal - just because we are fans does not mean that we have a right to monitor the progress of the deal by the hour

Ok, as a plan to stop people over thinking the lack of Pozzo PR at the moment. (By the way i am a newbie to posting on the WO news feeds). Realistically where do we all see the club finishing this coming season?

The new regime keeps quiet and the request from the poison pens is for patience.
Surely the new regime should be everywhere getting a message out. We might not believe or like what they have to tell, but they should be talking and talking a lot.

For many years Watford was seen as a club that communicated well with the fans but of late communications have become worse and worse. This needs rapid improvement.
Many Watford fans are concerned about the involvement of Nani and Duxbury. There is a lot of bad feeling at West Ham about the players they brought in, the advice they gave and the disasters that followed. There are excellent staff members at Watford who are trusted and have delivered. Let us not lose them all.In short my advice is implement change thoughtfully, make a careful transition and don't throw the baby out with the bath water
Watford supporters are a loyal group in general and at the very least fans and players would expect a manager who had done well for the club to

Putting aside my opinion about the demise of Sean.
We obviously, as a club, should not sign players without the opinion of the new manager.
Heaton i feel sorry for.
Mcginn didnt resign when he could have done, now Cardiff do not want him he wants us. Tough Stephen you had a chance to do the right thing, you did not, now you must wait and see.
As for Troy why does the club need to make a decision until he comes near to being released. As far as I can see an early decision would only help Troy and his levels of consideration extended to kicking a defenceless student in the head so let him rot pondering what he has done and the implications of the bully boys red mist on his life, the life of his family and the victim.
So let the new owners confirm a manager and then let him and his team shape WFC for next year. our job is to support the club and theirs is to run the team. if after a few months we dont like what we see then we should complain. When Sean took over I reckon over 50% of people on this site wanted him out before being prepared to give him a chance.
Learn from your mistakes. As for announcements...let them get on with it and we will judge them by their actions.

As someone who lost £100k I invested in Watford just before Luca's disasterous season in charge may I make a few gentle comments? Firstly if you buy a club for a lot of money you are entitled to choose who to put in charge but be awareof the nature of the Championship. To be successful in the Championship club needs technical and tactical staff who understand the challenges. Is Luca ready for that challenge? Does he KNOW the Championship? Luca never got to grips with it. Loads of money was spent and the team went backwards.
