Kings Langley force FA Cup replay against St Margaretsbury

Kings Langley forced a reply after a late Tom Carter goal secured a 1-1 draw against St Margaretsbury in their FA Cup extra preliminary round clash.

Kings fell behind early into the contest as they struggled to clear their lines and the ball dropped to Ricky Light who fired home.

Langley were struggling to create chances and didn’t test the visitors goalkeeper until the 37th minute when Gary Coyle had a shot well saved by Matt Deamer.

Coyle then saw a strike rattle the crossbar before Craig Lynskey and Jimmy Armstrong combined to create another opening for the midfielder.

However, Coyle’s close range effort did not travel the St Margaretsbury keeper.

After the interval, Langley were much improved. Armstrong missed a good opportunity to level with 13 minutes remaining before Carter was introduced from the substitutes bench.

He made an immediate impression as he collected the ball wide on the left before firing past Deamer from 30 yards. Meanwhile, Sun Postal Sports got their season underway in a disappointing manner as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat against Winslow United.
