Ex-Italy and Roma defender Marco Cassetti to watch Watford take on Ipswich Town ahead of move

Former Roma right back Marco Cassetti will be watching tonight’s Watford game ahead of his move to the Hornets.

Cassetti was released by Roma in the summer and has been training with Watford ahead of the move.

The 35-year-old right back was at the Wycombe Wanderers Capital One Cup tie ten days ago alongside fellow new arrival Alex Geijo and Cassetti is again watching tonight’s game with his new team-mates.

Cassetti spent six years at Roma and made around 150 appearances for the Italian club, and also played for Italy five times.

At first I thought your comment was amusing, but having seen how we played tonight I think they all might be suffering from the dreaded M.I as there was a lot of them running around in bloody circles! :)

Why do we need a 35 year old right back when we have doyley, hodson and thompson at the club???? Seems like a waste of time...just like the dire game tonight.

As much as we love players like doyley, can he really make that step up to playing the passing style the pozzos want? I think we will see many old school players eventually leave for more technical players, and because were still little old Watford they will probably be old ones too.

I would have thought a ball playing centre -back should be priority if GFZ wants to play the beutiful game..Tiny and Noz do not seem to have grasped what the manager wants-smack the ball anywhere and hope for the best is not part of the Zola philosophy-cant see him tolerating it for too long

this is vialli all over again what a joke.we have able players for this division that are being pushed aside just because our new manager preferes to play a passing game! bring back last season's style anyday of the week for me.at least we got it ion the box and had plenty of efforts at goal.

players we have nutured through our academy system will now be thrown aside for overpaid rubbish that cannot handle anyone running at them,or anyone who is physical in the slightest.thompson,b
ennett etc might as well leave now.sad times indeed.

If we sign him let's hope its one year max or pay as you play - remember Sietes!
Thought Doyley did ok at Palace so not sure why he went for Hodson last night. Unfortunate the lad had one of his worst games for a long time.

Play to feet requires players to give the ball and then make the space, so that the player with the ball has more than one option. I am sure everyone has heard of playing little triangles (Not musical instruments, before the comedians comment). Unfortunately what I saw last night was far removed, there was no offering of space or options especially from the front line. We didn't seem to have the confidence. Anyway, early days, room for improvement.

This is the Championship for god sake not Serie A. We can learn all the fancy passing but the bottom line is that we are likely to be disposesed while playing our nice little triangular play and then pay the price for it. Getting stuck in, winning posession and getting the ball forward and creating chances are what the Championship is all about and save the fancy passing and the controlled build up for the Premiership where you get a bit more time and space to play that way. COYH!

Sorry i disagree Hodson was quite solid i think the left back was the weak link thats where the goal came from, we missed Eustace we were giving the ball away for fun in midfield.

Let's be real Doyley actually played well against Wycombe and I heard he did well against Palace, so it looks as if he has adapted just like he's done for every manager he's played under. Hodson was dreadful last night gave the ball away too much and was not penertrating going forward. Pudil looked a bite out of sorts at the start but grew into the game and put in two/three great tackles and set up two or three great chances. Garner should not be allowed near the team, never seen a striker looking like he doesn't want to score before. Iwelumo looked very good when he come on and deserves a start next game and maybe don't bring Beleck on for his debut with 2 minutes left, should be on earlier. However I will agree that we need Eustace in the middle to keep possesion and sometimes we need to get rid of the ball instead of trying to be smart as it nearly cost us last night and we were lucky.

Totally disagree, hodson was briliant the winger didn't seem to beat him once and he did well to keep posession of every sloppy pass nsworthy seeme to spray in a random direction on the pitch

I agree with the majority of both observations: 1) Lloyd should only have lost his place if he had a poor game previously - think Zola believes in squad rotation and fitness of squad 2) hodson did ok but needed to do simple thing more often 3) we missed Eustace big time - easy balls given away in the centre when they should have gone wide 4) Garner got to be dropped - sure he could be a good player at a lower level 5) Steve Leo bellend (belleck!) must start soon along with Geijo - I would leave Big Chris on bench - he can make an impact over 10 minutes but for me not 90! 6) I liked how when the passing game was not effective we tried something else 7) I liked how Zola not afraid to make substions 8) Always said it would take time for team to gel and I think we will have to be patient
