Watford forward Matej Vydra has been called up by the full Czech Republic squad for the first time.

Vydra has just started a season-long loan with the Hornets from Italian club Udinese and the 20-year-old has scored two goals in four appearances for the club.

His team-mate Daniel Pudil, who is on loan from Granada, just missed out on Czech Republic's Euro 2012 squad but has not been recalled for the two games.

Vladimir Smicer's men face Denmark in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday, September 8 and then have a friendly with Finland three days later.

Watford full back Lee Hodson is once again in the Northern Ireland squad for their two World Cup qualifiers against Russia and Luxembourg.

Northern Ireland face Russia on Friday, September 7 and then return home to play Luxembourg the following Tuesday.

Nyron Nosworthy is in Jamaica’s squad for their double header with USA on September 7 and September 11, which are also World Cup qualifiers.

Sean Murray and Adam Thompson are in the Under-21 squads for the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland respectively. Tommie Hoban has been called up by ROI Under-19s.

Well done Matej, can't wait for Geijo to be fit and play together.
I saw a clip of a football show starring Alex called Gol a Gol on U Tube, there's on montage of some of his goals, Wow this guy can do everything!!

And if we get promoted, he's hardly going to leave if he is then playing in the best league in the world.

He won't be sold in Jan. In the past wen we sold our star players in Jan it was because little old Watford didn't have a choice. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Pozzo family and getting rid of him in Jan would mess up the "plan".

Not out of financial necessity, but their philosophy is to source young and relatively cheap, develop, sell on at massive profit, re-invest the profit and bring through the next young stars. if they were offered £5-10m for him in Jan I think they'd take it. How long is he contracted (to the little zebras) for ?

They have already said "the plan" for us isn't promotion this season.

U get around 100 mill just for being in the prem.. Why would Vydra be sold for 5 mill?? The cash in the prem is huge.. A lot more than when we were last in there.. To say we might sell the players on loan is in my view is well wide of the mark...

I think he signed a 5 year deal in 2010, so by that logic i'm guessing three years, but don't take my word on it.

You never know, if he does really well he could stay permanently, that goes for Abdi too, both are quality.

Abdi was a strange loan because he was a decent squad player at Udinese, but i'm really glad he signed for us.

I don't think WE would sell but I think Udinese's model is that all players are for sale at the right price so THEY might. They will clearly want to get in the prem ultimately but have said its not an immediate priority. I hope YOU are right !
