Watford Harrier Yeomans wins gold at European Masters Athletics Championship

Watford Harriers' Sue Yeomans celebrated her 40th wedding anniversary by winning gold at the European Masters Athletics Championships in Prague.

Yeomans, who travelled out with husband Brian, won the over 50 pole vault event despite enduring a frustrating season due to injuries. Sue Yeomans took first place with a distance of 2m 80cm.

She said: "It has been a wonderful weekend first celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and then lifting the European title.

"I shall have a short rest, after competing in the Southern Athletic League,  and then start preparing for the round of indoor championships which start early in the new year."
