Paralympics GB sitting volleyball team lose classification match to Brazil
12:25pm Wednesday 5th September 2012 in Sport
Emma Wiggs and her Paralympics GB sitting volleyball team-mates are still searching for their first win after losing to Brazil in straight sets last night.
The Rickmansworth player’s team matched Brazil for most of the first set of their classification match, narrowly losing 25-19.
The Brazilians then began to dominate, winning 25-10 and 25-7 in the second and third sets respectively.
GB only started to play the sport two years ago in preparation for the London Paralympics, and they are yet to win a match in these Games.
Brazil, in contrast, have been playing competitively since the women’s sport was introduced in 2004, and their superior experience was evident to see.
Wiggs and her GB team will have the chance to go again tomorrow when they will face Japan in the seventh/eighth place play-off at 9am.
