Rickmansworth's Emma Wiggs features in Great Britain's Paralympic defeat to Japan

Rickmansworth's Emma Wiggs played for the Great Britain women’s sitting volleyball side which lost in straight sets to Japan.

The defeat means the the team finished last in their debut tournament.

Despite the scoreline, GB put up an excellent fight against the Japanese who already have tournament experience after competing in Beijing.

The GB team were formed less than three years ago and were only granted a place at these Paralympics games through being the host nation. Despite this, they put up a decent challenge against the more experienced Japanese, narrowly losing the first set 25-23.

The second set was also very close, Japan winning 25-19 while the third and final set of the 7th/8th place classification match was slightly more comfortable ending 25-13.

Despite the disappointment of ending the tournament without winning a set, this performance in particular will give the GB team massive encouragement going forward.
