Garston Under-10s strengthen position at top of the table
4:41pm Wednesday 17th October 2012 in Sport
Garston Ladies Under-10s strengthened their title charge with a 4-0 victory at fellow challengers Comet Sports.
Claudia Bulow scored the only goal of the first half to give Garston the advantage and the side grew in confidence in the second period.
Paige Andrews found the net twice and Beth Chambers netted a contender for goal of the season to seal a win which leaves Garston top of the table by four points.
The Under-11 Mets side continued their 100 per cent start to the season with a 4-0 success against St Albans City.
A brace from Megan Allaway and second half strikes from Jaime Lewis and Libby Poster secured the win.
Two goals from Tamyah Jones helped the Under-11 Diamonds to a 2-2 draw against Hemel Hempstead.
After going in behind at the break, Jones levelled the contest with an individual goal. However, Hemel reasserted their advantage before Jones notched her second late on to ensure a share of the points.
For the second week running, Garston’s Under-12 team took on Watford Ladies but the Hornets proved too strong and came away with a 5-2 win - Amy Lafayette and Yasmin Sabri on target for the losing side.
A goal from Olivia Thomson secured a 1-1 draw for the Under-15 Mets at Bishops Stortford while the Under-15 Diamonds suffered an 8-2 defeat against Bury Rangers Reds. Amy Lane and Claire Weekes netted the goals for Garston.
The Under-15 Sharks came out on the wrong end of a 6-3 scoreline against Bedwell Rangers Dragons with Leah Crocket, Megan Grace and Jade Roberts all on target for Garston.
In a close game against the Enfield Town, Ella Cowderoy scored the only goal for the Under-18s in a 2-1 defeat.
