Watford defender Carl Dickinson described Portsmouth return as 'a no-brainer'

Dickinson joins Pompey Dickinson joins Pompey

Watford defender Carl Dickinson described his return to Portsmouth on an initial one-month loan as "a no-brainer".

Dickinson has made five appearances for the Hornets this season but has not featured since the 5-1 defeat to Derby County on September 1.

The 25-year-old spent the 2010/11 campaign on loan with Pompey and made 39 appearances for the club, before joining Watford that summer in a move which we understand was worth an initial £250,000.

Dickinson told Pompey's website: “It’s an exciting move. I found out on Friday that Pompey were interested and it was a no-brainer for me.

“I wasn’t getting a chance at Watford and I needed games, so I jumped at the chance to come back.

“I know a couple of the lads and a lot of the back-room staff are the same from my last spell here. Hopefully I can have a decent month.

“I know what it’s like to play at Fratton Park and know how great the fans are – hopefully they can push us on.”

Yep good move all round, slowly but surely the squad is being trimmed of the dross!
Once Geijo is fit hopefully we can get Iwelumo off the wage bill and when Bauban, Munji Bia and Eustace are fit maybe Yeates will be on his way!
Still can't see Anya and Beleck being here come January tho!

Carl is a good, honest player, just not good enough with the influx of quality players we now have. If it were any other club I would hope the move would become permanent but not gonna happen with Portsmouth

Yep I'm an idiot Hornet1970 that's right! Yeates isn't a quality player or if he is your meaning of quality is a lot lower then mine!
I bet you he's gone or loaned out come January, he is getting some game time due to midfield absentees, this will change soon! The same thing happened with Garner and Dickinson and its Iwelumo then Yeates turn

Bang on Lutondown, get a little tired of some of the insulting posts on here.I come to see the latest news and the fans thoughts on those stories. Its' a shame that some are ridiculed for thier thoughts.
Back to this move of CD. It is good for him,and I wish him the best, but he will struggle to break into the team which seems to be brisitling with possibilities and quality. Then again I thought LD had played his last game and Deeney too. Its just athought .

Cheers Lutondown I'm not one for slating a player of the club I follow but Yeates isn't quality! A quality WFC player is: Barnes, Blissett, Callaghan, King, Young, James, Coton, Furlong, Dyer, Penrice, Jenkins, Jackett, Gibbs, Foster, etc etc!

In my book there is a big difference between those who put their all in when wearing the shirt (who I would put Dikko into this bracket) although maybe are not quite at the desired ability, particularly since the taker, and those that are just lazy journeymen such as Ellington.

Best of luck at Pompey and hope you put yourself in the shop window down there.

I hope you don't find yourself parking next to Bassini in the car park.

Well I'm glad he's kissing someone else's badge and will sleep easier knowing he won't be in a yellow shirt.
Dusty old son, I would be world champion at huffing and puffing, would win an Oscar for badge kissing but sadly be pretty useless footballer at pro level, so sad as it is I'm not sorry to see him go!

I really love the way our club has changed for the better since the Pozzo's took control
The below par players have moved on to play there football elsewhere leaving real quality players to ply there trade in yellow and black!

Not overly sad to see him go either as it shows how far we have progressed as a squad and the quality that is now available throughout.

You cannot doubt that Dicko was a huge improvement on the likes of Sadler, Stuart or any other LB since Robbo (including an out of position Doyley).

What I am saying is that from where I sit I could never question his commitment and effort and therefore he leaves with my best wishes.

Meanwhile the horns go marching on....
