Saracens Herts Cricket League

Division One

Langleybury claimed a much needed win in their battle against relegation as they defeated bottom of the table St Albans by 30 runs.

Bury started the game at the crease and went on to reach a respectable total of 178 for five from their 52 overs.

Knowing a victory would extend the gap between the two sides, the Bury bowlers were in determined mood and they managed to dismiss St Albans for 148 in the 38th over.

Division Two

Hemel Hempstead Seconds suffered a narrow run loss in a low scoring match against Radlett Seconds.

Taking to the field first, Brad Finch (two for seven) and a run-out saw Radlett reduced to 13 for three.

Matt Petchell bowled impressively taking three for 48 alongside Faisal Iqbal (two for 28) and Radlett were bowled out for only 107.

However, the top order crumbled and Hemel found themselves at 30 for five. Graham Clarke (21) and wicket-keeper Liam Jahn (16) provided some brief resistance but the home team were bowled out for only 98.

There was disappointment for Kings Langley were they were beaten by five wickets against Shenley Village.

Kings batted first and were in good form with the bat. They went on to post a competitive total of 221 for eight from their 46 overs.

It was a score that Kings should have been able to defend but the visitors produced an impressive display with the bat and chased down the runs in the 39th over.

Division Three

Met Police Bushey clinched a narrow three wicket victory over Waltham X Rosedale.

Captain Daniel Nightingale opened the bowling as Met Police took to the field first with Simon Hamilton (two for 32) proving destructive from the other end.

With Waltham’s innings disrupted by rain and a constant loss of wickets they set the home side 167 to win.

Met’s reply began well with opener Andrew Fish hitting eight fours on his way to 55 and he shared an opening stand of 95 with Urvish Upadhyay (35).

A flurry of wickets meant that it was left to Mark Parkinson to hit the winning runs in his first match for the Met this season.

Chris Chellow’s unbeaten 119 guided Abbots Langley to a nine-wicket victory against Stevenage Seconds.

Having taken the ball first, captain Mat Dunstone took three for 50 and Chellow took two for 29 as Stevenage complied an impressive total of 200 for seven.

In reply Abbots Langley openers Jack Read (74) and Chellow destroyed the opposition bowlers and helped their side reach the target in only 28 overs.
