Division Four

Raj Kotecha’s impressive six for 27 helped Northwood Town ease to a 94-run victory over Watton-at-Sea.

Choosing to bat Northwood’s top order were toppled over but an assured 63 from Mikhil Patel helped propel his side to 229 before they declared.

The match looked destined to end as a draw as Watton began their reply steadily but Kotecha’s introduction was the difference as he claimed six wickets in a ten over spell.

His impressive figures meant Wood skittled their opponents in the 46th over, with 135 on the scoreboard.

The victory keeps Northwood’s ambitions for promotion alive with them 39 points adrift going into the last few matches of the season.

Chandan Sharma hit an unbeaten century as league leaders Bushey overcame Berkhamsted by four wickets.

Winning the toss and electing to put Berkhamstead in to bat seemed like a poor decision as they got off to fine start with both their openers scoring half centuries.

However, Farook Hameed entered the fray and took five for 52. Lakhmir Singh (four for 36) abley supported him at the other end and the duo's efforts meant the home side were all out for 185.

In reply Bushey lost a couple of early wickets but their innings was lit up by an impressive 103 from Sharma who took his side over the line in just over 42 overs.

Rickmansworth edged to a two-wicket win over Hertingfordbury in a high-scoring match.

Having won the toss Rickmansworth put their counter parts into bat and quickly reduced them to 40 for four as Ben Cutler picked up three wickets.

The home side rallied to set a competitive target of 222.

Rickmansworth openers Maz Shah and Sohail Bashir undertook the task of leading the reply and they started well but sharing an opening stand of 70.

Bashir went on to complete his half century as did Fraser Patterson as Northwood, despite losing wickets regularly, reached their target within 44 overs.

Division Five

A fine performance with the ball from Gavin Brown helped Chorleywood Seconds defeat a strong Hatfield & Crusaders by 31 runs.

Batting first Matt Rose scored an elegant 67 and was supported by Jonathan Lyons and Michael Shippey, who both scored thirties. Their efforts helped Chorleywood set the away team 194 to win.

Opener Brown claimed his greatest bowling figures for Wood as he tore through the Hatfield batting order. He ended with seven for 69 in 13 overs and that helped Wood dismiss their opponents for 163.

Division Six

Hemel Hempstead Thirds won a tight match against Clifton by 24 runs with opener Andy Turbutt scoring an assured half century.

Batting first, Turbutt (63) and Dave Mudd (46 not out) helped boost Hemel’s score and they set a target of 211 for Clifton to chase down.

Phil Freebrey then claimed four for 59 and the home side lost regular wickets in response. It proved costly as they were bowled out short of the Hemel total.

A poor performance with the bat proved costly for Kings Langley Seconds as they were beaten by six wickets against Flitwick.

Kings batted first but weren’t able to deal with the bowling of Ian Moxon-Booth. Only two Langley batsmen made it past the 20 mark as they were skittled for 117 in 36 overs.

That wasn’t a total the home side could defend best the best efforts of their bowlers. Flitwick eased to victory in the 25th over with Daniel Alder scoring a useful 40.

A fine bowling display helped Radlett Thirds record an emphatic 142-run victory against Boxmoor.

Radlett batted first and made a solid if not spectacular total of 189 in 86 overs.

However it proved more than enough to seal victory as the Radlett attack skittled their opponents for just 47.
