Division One

Langleybury ran riot against Hitchin on Saturday after Josh Godden took seven wickets to help his side complete a 169-run victory and keep their hopes of avoiding relegation alive.

Choosing to bat first, Rhys Williams (63) and Nahim Amin (62) shared a 120-run second-wicket partnership as Langleybury finished on 234 for eight.

Godden then bowled an immaculate line as he tore into Hitchin’s batting order to finish with figures of seven for 38 from 13.3 overs as the away side were bowled out for just 65.

Only victory in their final match of the season tomorrow (Saturday) will ensure their stay in Division One for another season.

Division Two

Kings Langley’s chances of promotion were extinguished as they fell to an 82-run defeat away to league leaders Dunstable.

Choosing to take to the field first, the visitors could not contain Dunstable who set them 236 to win. However, Kings were bowled out for just 153 in the 39th over.

Northwood were held to a draw against St Albans West Indian on a difficult afternoon for their bowlers.

Having been set 259 to win, Northwood were never in the run chase and edged to 123 for seven from their 54 overs.

Hemel Hempstead Seconds were forced to dig deep to claim a 13-run victory over bottom club Baldock as Bryan Davies starred, taking five for 80.

Batting first, contributions from Graham Clark (44) and wicketkeeper Liam John (31) helped Hemel to post a total of 203.

A half-century from James Stevens seemed to have taken Baldock to victory but Davies produced a fine spell to dismiss the relegated side for 190.

Division Three

Abbots Langley secured promotion after they thrashed Waltham Cross Rosedale by ten wickets following an impressive all-round display by Chris Chellow.

Bowling first, two early wickets from Australian star Chellow reduced the hosts to three for three before Aiden Bryne’s five-wicket haul saw them bowled out for a paltry 93.

In response, Chellow, who now has 840 league runs and 35 wickets to his name this season, smashed an unbeaten 60, with opening partner Barry Warner finishing on 33 not out as Abbots chased down the score in ten overs.

Met Police Bushey remain in hunt for the Division Three title after they overcame home side Letchworth Garden City Seconds by six wickets as Gareth Thomason hit a superb unbeaten century.

Asked to take to the field first, Simon Hamilton took three wickets for the visitors as they bowled their opponents out for an imposing 255.

However, Thomason smashed 139 off 108 balls as Met chased down the target in 43 overs to leave them 22 points behind top of the table Abbots with one match remaining.
