West Herts’ stay in the Home Counties Premier League is over after they were relegated by a single point despite winning their last game of the Division Two East season.

Set a target of 255 by Letchworth Garden City on Saturday, the Stags chased it down with one delivery and one wicket in hand to claim their sixth win of the season but they went down after Chorleywood (284 for six) beat Hemel Hempstead (215 all out) to maintain their Division Two East status.

Radlett had already been crowned champions but were unable to finish their Division Two East campaign on a high after being bowled out for just 66 by Sawbridgeworth, who went on to complete a five-wicket victory.

Langleybury were successful in their battle to beat the drop in Herts League Division One after a 39-run win over Reed kept them up by eight points.

Batting first, Bury made 218 for six and then bowled their opponents out for 179.

A 13-run defeat at the hands of Watford Town meant Leverstock Green were relegated from Division Two but there was dual local success in Division Three, with Abbots Langley winning the title and Met Police Bushey finishing runners-up.

One of the clubs replacing them next season will be Bushey after they lifted the Division Four crown but at the other end of the tables Chipperfield Clarendon Seconds, Northwood Seconds and Hemel Hempstead Fourths were relegated from divisions five, six and eight respectively.

Rickmansworth Thirds dropped through the Division Nine trap door and a disappointing day for West Herts was completed with the demise of their third team from Division Ten.

Watford Town Thirds are celebrating winning the Division 12 title and Northwood Town Thirds clinched promotion from Division 13 but four local sides also suffered relegation from these two divisions – Rickmansworth Fourths and Met Police Bushey Thirds in 12 and Chorleywood Fourths and Rickmansworth Fifths in 13.
