Steve Finn has endured a tricky opening day of the Ashes tour to Australia as England’s all-pace attack were made to toil by a Western Australia Chairman’s XI at the WACA.
The Watford-born bowler finished without a wicket and conceded 87 off his 18 overs as the hosts finished day one of the three-day match in a strong position of 369 for four.
All of the Western Australia top four batsmen scored half-centuries, with Chris Lynn making a 124-ball 104 at number three as the tourists conceded more than four runs an over in Perth.
James Anderson was the pick of the England attack with figures of one for 31 off 16 overs, but Chris Tremlett, Boyd Rankin and Ben Stokes all joined Finn in conceding more than four an over.
