Watford-born bowler Steve Finn has returned to the England fold for the first time since the winter Ashes tour after being named in the England Lions squad for their summer triangular series.

The Middlesex bowler, 25, has the third most wickets in Division One of the County Championship this season with 44 and his impressive form for his county has led to an England recall.

Former Parmiter's Pupil Finn is one of 13 players selected for the England Lions triangular series against New Zealand and Sri Lanka 'A'.

The 6ft7in right-arm bowler was deemed "unselectable" and sent home from England's 5-0 Ashes defeat last winter and has not been involved since.

Coached by the ECB’s technical director of elite coaching, Andy Flower, England Lions will play two 50-over matches against the two touring sides, with England taking on Sri Lanka in Taunton on Wednesday, August 6.

The squad also includes the likes of Jonny Bairstow, Ravi Bopara and Alex Hales - all of whom have been involved in the England setup recently.

Full England Lions squad: James Taylor (Nottinghamshire) captain, Jonny Bairstow (Yorkshire), Ravi Bopara (Essex), Steven Finn (Middlesex), Stephen Parry (Lancashire), Harry Gurney (Nottinghamshire), Alex Hales (Nottinghamshire), Craig Overton (Somerset), Jason Roy (Surrey), Ravi Patel (Middlesex), Tom Smith (Lancashire), James Vince (Hampshire) and David Willey (Northamptonshire).
