Chorleywood eased their relegation fears with a nervy seven-run win against Knebworth Park.

Dropped in the ninth over, Wood batsman Scott Aspinall (71) was the only home player to reach double figures as the hosts were dismissed for just 113.

Wood then made life hard for the Knebworth Park attack and had their visitors at 45 for four, with Will Pendered (four for 40) key in dismissing Knebworth for 106.

West Herts’ chances of overhauling second-placed Reed look to be all but over after losing by four wickets against them.

Anthony Griffin scored 71 and Matt Smith 55 as the home side put up a target of 275 for eight.

Despite figures of four for 83 from Ian Gurney for the Stags, Reed won with 276 for six.

Langleybury remain bottom of the league after failing to remove Flitwick.

Hosts Bury started strongly, with Richard Soulsby (68 not out) pivotal in reaching 141 for three as rain reduced the number of overs bowled.

With only 38 overs, Flitwick had no choice but to chase and Khalid Manzoor (four for 21) did his best but could only see the visitors to 131 for eight.

Premier Division

Gareth James scored 36 and took four wickets as Hemel Hempstead won by 46 runs at Stevenage.

Put into bat first, Hemel saw good contributions from Brett Penny (47) and Hen Ilangarante (44) to put on a partnership of 100 for the first wicket.

The runs didn’t flow as freely from there and the visitors were dismissed for 241, with Syed Ali Kazmi taking four for 43.

Despite 65 from Chris Whitworth, Hemel took charge from the outset, with James (four for 50) and Penny (three for 37) helping remove the hosts for 195.

Division One

Kings Langley saw their game with Broxbourne abandoned after 33 overs, with Kings on 163 for three.

Division Two

Hemel Hempstead Seconds are top of the league after a 21-run win over Wheathampstead.

In a rain-affected game, Suren Perera (36) and Tom Elborn (37) built a solid foundation for Hemel before the heavens opened.

Having declared on 176 for eight, Hemel set about dismantling the visitors’ attack, with Bryan Davies (five for 53) and Duncan Howard (three for 24) proving effective.

Matt Corran hit 33 but the away side were removed for 145 to hand Hemel the points.

Abbots Langley recorded back-to-back victories after narrowly winning by a wicket at Cockfosters.

At 137 for four, Cockfosters looked set for a big score, however the bowling of Abbots skipper Mat Dunstone (four for 33) saw the hosts capitulate to 152 all out.

Dunstone then hit an unbeaten 74, picking the visitors up from 69 for six, to finish on 156 for nine.

Watford Town enjoyed a 48-run win over Radlett Seconds, with Mohammed Abid playing a pivotal role.

Put into bat first, hosts Watford lost an early wicket but the arrival of Abid (68) moved the score along, with Usman Majid (22) helping the home side to a total of 178.

With the benefit of a new ball, the Radlett chase started brightly before Abid displayed his credentials with the ball, taking four for 43 to play a key part in dismissing the visitors for 130.

Division Three

Northwood Town put together consecutive wins with a 41-run defeat of Southgate Adelaide.

Raj Kotecha (41) and Andy Burt (46) put on a good opening partnership to post an imposing 203 all out.

Veer Vadgama (three for 63) removed both opening Southgate batsmen for ducks but Town never had things their own way, before two fine catches from Akshay Loomba helped dismiss the visitors for 162.

Farook Hameed’s five-for was not enough to help Bushey better a draw against Luton Town and Indians.

Narenda Gogna (39) and Lakhmir Singh (72 not out) put on a good stand for the opening wicket, paving the way to a total of 229 for eight for Bushey; Chandan Sharma chipping in with 59.

Bushey were frustrated with the ball early on before Hameed (five for 62) took the wicket of the opening batsmen and began to turn the game in Bushey’s favour. Luton Town held on though, finishing on 209 for eight.

Division Five

Hemel Hempstead Thirds paid for their failure to remove Hoddesdon Seconds by only managing a draw.

Batting first, visitors Hemel recovered from a sluggish start to put up a total of 209. Forty-one from Anjam Khan and 28 from Rahul Wickramsinghe in the lower order dragged Hemel’s score up.

Khan (two for 22) and Rory Fraser (two for 44) shared the early wickets as Hoddesdon faltered before closing on 170 for eight.

Division Six

Ben Joyce’s maiden century was not enough as Kings Langley Seconds drew with Old Haberdashers.

Having won the toss, Kings declared on 260 for four, with Joyce (126) making a sizeable contribution, whilst Nigel Barlow added 75.

Despite pushing for the win, Habs finished on 229 for seven, with Radleigh Tant taking three wickets and Duane Smith two.

Abbots Langley Seconds beat St Margaretsbury Seconds by 63 runs with Dave Carlisle to the fore.

Consistent scores for Abbots from Carlisle (34) and Nick Gurney (36) carried the hosts to 192 all out.

The visitors appeared to be going well at 55 for two before Carlisle (two for 34) and Andrew Ruth (four for 21) tore into their line-up to remove them for 129.

Division Eight

Rain put paid to Hemel Hempstead Fourths’ game with Berkhamsted Seconds, with Hemel on 112 for three when the game was abandoned.

Division Nine

King Langley Thirds were beaten by two wickets against local rivals Abbots Langley Thirds.

Choosing to bat first, Kings were all out by the 34th over, having reached just 168.

Only Sam Joyce (69) made the only sizeable contribution before Abbots eased to the win in the 44th over.

Division 11 West

Jack Boughton claimed six wickets in Hemel Hempstead Fifths’ seven-wicket defeat of Redbourn Fourths.

Alastair Tyler scored 130 for the visitors before Boughton got to work, taking six for 40 and reducing the away side to 209 for seven as the tail clung on.

Tony Linfoot then smashed an unbeaten 105 in reply, with Mel Boughton (36) and Rhys Fowler (31) helping Hemel reach a winning total of 210 for three.

Langleybury Fifths beat St Albans by 14 runs, with Josh Comes taking eight wickets.

A brisk start saw Darren Crawley (46) and Tom Warrell (38) provide the backbone of a total of 170 for nine.

Comes (eight for 61) made light work of the St Albans line-up, playing a big part in their removal for 156.

Rickmansworth Fourths were well below-par in a ten-wicket loss against Watford Town Thirds.

Removed for a paltry 32, Jidran Mohmand took six for 15, whilst Zirak Khan claimed four for eight for Town.

The visitors took just 6.2 overs to reach a winning total of 35.

Division 12 West

A fine bowling display made up for Kings Langley Fourths’ poor showing with the bat, securing a 31-run win over Watford Town Fifths.

Tony Thompson top-scored with 37 as hosts Kings were removed for 108.

In reply, Hadi Rizvi (three for 23) and Josh Lloyd (three for 23) removed the visitors for just 77.
