Division Seven A

Rickmansworth Seconds’ extended their impressive start to the season after clinching their third successive win against Old Cholmeleians with a 93-run victory.

Put into bat, Ricky recovered from 68 for five to 156 all out, thanks to 44 from Kamran Shah and 36 from Ajay Thaker.

However, the bowlers were the stars with Amit Pau taking three for four in nine overs and Phil Riddlestone returning figures of three for 24.

Cholmeleians' innings fell away to 65 all out enabling Ricky to remain one of only two unbeaten teams in the division.

Division Eight A

Northwood Town Seconds clinched their first victory of the season against Langleybury Thirds after dominating the contest.

Having won the toss, Town opted to bat on a decent looking track.

Fozan Haji got Town off to a flyer before falling victim to some uneven bounce. The returning Suvin Mekwan was in fine form following up though, and along with Ravi Ramawat, Town motored along to bring up the 50 off seven overs.

The scoring continued at a blistering pace until Mekwan departed.

After a slow rebuilding process, Town looked to accelerate, but the loss of Ramawat for a solid 57 and two further wickets appeared to have swung the game in Langleybury’s favour.

But some fine batting from Mohamed Vanker and Patel saw Town take the initiative and an explosive cameo from Jack Daly propelled the home side to 234 for eight off their overs.

In response, the metronomic Neil Furmenger and the wily Patel quickly built up pressure and the continued excellence from Town in the field saw three wickets fall and put the game effectively beyond Langleybury after 15 overs.

The visitors showed spirit though, and despite some tight middle over bowling from Daly and Sumeet Khetia, they remained in the game.

Despite some fine hitting down the order, it was to prove too much as Sajid Malik ripped through the lower order with a fine second spell. The visitors finished up on 194 for nine and Town were off the mark for the season.

Division Eight B

A spirited showing from the middle order was not enough for Hemel Hempstead Fourths as they endured a five-wicket loss at home to Bayford and Hertford Seconds.

Mike Samuels (35) opened well enough but it was not until a flurry of runs from Dean Breed (22), Nick Benson (46), Dawood Iqbal (25) and Saleem Farooqi (33) that Hemel really got going.

All out for 202, the hosts could not find their rhythm with the ball and although Breed returned figures of two for 15 from his six overs – including two maidens – Bayford made it to 203 with five wickets to spare.

Division Nine A

Kings Langley Thirds claimed their first win of the season with a 69-run victory over Stevenage Fourths.

The side opted to bat first and the senior players all contributed as they scored 220 for six. Sifan Naeem (57) and Russell Knights (47) led the charge and Gordon Sambidge helped finish the job with 64 not out. Barton claimed three 42 off ten overs for Stevenage.

In reply, Stevenage made a solid start and a tight finish seemed likely as drinks approached. However, a tumble of wickets meant the charge slowed down.

Stevenage finished on 151 all out with a string of excellent catches from the juniors proving vital. Two 14 year olds shone with ball, as Liberty Maher took two for eight and Tom Wright impressed on his senior debut with one for 32. Sambidge also claimed four for 26 to cap an impressive individual day.

Met Police Bushey Seconds continued their fine start to the season with a seven-wicket trouncing of Hatfield Hyde.

Tight bowling from visiting Met Police restricted the home side to 155 for five from 40 overs before the visitors reached 158 for the loss of just three wickets.
