Morrant Thames Valley League

Division Two A

Old Merchant Taylors' clinched a 52-run win over Tring Park Seconds on Saturday.

The losses of Kavir Vedd (11) and Paul Marshall (30) had left hosts OMTs struggling at 57 for two. But batting at three, Rehan Hasan (68) provided a steady knock to calm things down.

Adam Brand (41) helped build from there and OMTs eventually closed on 210 for nine.

Tring were only able to score 158 for eight from their innings, with Armaan Mahmood taking three for 25 and Uzair Khan claiming three for 26.

Division Six A

OMT Seconds secured a comfortable seven-wicket win at Chalfont St Peter Seconds with Andrew Wingfield’s majestic five-for proving crucial.

Wingfield (five for 46) tore through the top and middle order to aid in the removal of the home side for just 155.

Only J Weller (75) offered much in the way of staying power before Suhel Virmani (80) and Matt Winkle (38) steered OMTs to a winning total of 157 for three.

Readers County Twenty20 Cup

Hemel Hempstead suffered their second defeat in Group C after losing by 59 runs against Letchworth on Sunday.

Letchworth got off to a blistering start with Matt Bridge scoring 59 off 46 balls and Tom Simmons hitting an unbeaten 113. Parth Mehta took one for 25 and Anjam Khan claimed one for 16 but Letchworth posted a total of 191 for four.

In reply, Hemel reached 94 for three off 13 overs but their scoring slowed down as they finished on 132 for eight. Opener Hemish Ilangaratne top-scored with 39 while Ali Leighton contributed 24 but Hemel still fell well short of victory.

Having dispatched with Hertford a day earlier in the league, Radlett were left frustrated at their failure to replicate the result 24 hours later in the short form of the game, going down by four wickets.

Joe Cooke (36) again caught the eye with the bat, with Jonathan McLean (52) making an important score as the visitors put up a target of 158 for eight.

Hertford chased down that total with glee and got home with four wickets to spare after reaching 150; Cook took two for 22 but to little avail.
